Duties and Responsibilities

  • Access Control: Manage access to the church premises by checking credentials, monitoring entry points, and ensuring that only authorized individuals enter.
  • Patrols and Vigilance: Conduct regular patrols inside and around the church property to deter potential security threats and ensure the safety of the premises.
  • Crowd Management: Assist with crowd control during church services, events, or gatherings to maintain order and ensure the safety of attendees.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as medical incidents, fires, or security breaches. This includes alerting emergency services, providing first aid, and guiding people to safety.
  • Parking Lot Security: Monitor and secure parking areas to prevent theft, vandalism, or other security issues. Assist with directing traffic during peak times.
  • Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Establish a good working relationship with local law enforcement agencies and collaborate with them as needed, especially in emergency situations.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities within the church premises and develop strategies to address and mitigate these risks.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with church staff, volunteers, and congregation members to stay informed about any security concerns or changes in the environment.
  • Training and Drills: Conduct or participate in security training sessions and emergency drills to ensure that all staff and volunteers are prepared for different scenarios.
  • Conflict Resolution: Possess good communication and conflict resolution skills to handle disputes or disturbances within the church environment.
  • Assist with Special Events: Provide security support during special events, weddings, funerals, or other gatherings held at the church.
  • Building and Equipment Security: Ensure the security of church buildings, equipment, and valuables. This includes securing doors and windows and monitoring security systems.
  • Crisis Intervention: Be trained to handle crisis situations with sensitivity, especially when dealing with distressed individuals or emotionally charged situations.
  • Maintain a Positive Presence: Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere by being approachable and helpful to members of the congregation.
