Vice Chancellor
Job Description
- The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and shall exercise general supervision over the University.
- He/She shall be the Chairman of Senate and ex-officio member of the Governing Council and shall be responsible to Council for the day-to-day management of the human, financial and material resources of the University.
Qualities
Applicants for the post of the Vice-Chancellor should possess the following:
- Must be a distinguished scholar with Doctorate Degree and be a full Professor of not less than ten (10) years standing;
- A proven track record of scholarship at national and international levels;
- Must have good understanding of the vision and mission of the University
- Innovative, capable of inspiring advancement of learning and commitment to providing effective leadership;
- Capacity for prudent management of resources
- Cognate administrative experience;
- Track records that command the respect and loyalty of staff and students of the University of Maiduguri
- Ability to faster the integration of all without discrimination based on race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religious and other acts off intolerance;
- Sound moral and unquestionable integrity and probity;
- Sound state of health;
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT);
- Ability to generate and attract funds.
- Candidates should possess experience in University administration
Tenure
- The appointment shall be for a single term off five (5) years only.
Age of Applicants:
- Eligible candidates should not be more than sixty-five (65) years old at the time of assumption of office.
Conditions of Service
Shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in Nigerian Federal Universities.
Method of Application
Interested and qualified candidates should forward their Applications, which should contain the following:
- Thirty (30) hard copies of their comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) duly signed and dated by the candidate and photocopies of certificates.
- Thirty copies (30) of statement of the candidate’s vision and mission (of not more than 1000 words) for the University of Maiduguri.
- Submit three (3) referee reports, one of whom must be the candidate’s present or former Head of Department forwarded directly to the Registrar confidentially.
