Job Overview

• We are seeking a passionate and experienced Tech Journalist to join our editorial team.
• The Tech Journalist will play a vital role in researching, reporting, and writing articles on technology trends, innovations, and industry developments.
• The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in technology, strong writing skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience.

Responsibilities

• As a Journalist for Startup Lagos, among other roles, you will be responsible for:
• Researching, writing, and producing thought-provoking news articles related to the African tech space.
• You will also be required to attend events, conduct interviews, and tech products, and build and maintain strong relationships within the African tech community.
• Generate ideas for feature articles, opinion pieces, and multimedia content.
• Collaborate with editors and other team members to brainstorm and develop engaging content ideas.
• Share articles on social media platforms to increase visibility and engagement.
• Monitor social media channels and engage with readers and followers.
• Verify facts, statistics, and claims to ensure the accuracy and credibility of articles.
• Adhere to ethical standards and journalistic integrity in all reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in journalism, preferably focused on technology or startups
• Data reporting and Data visualization skill
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to write and produce content quickly and accurately, with tight deadlines
• Demonstrated knowledge of the African tech ecosystem and major players within it
• Experience with multimedia journalism, such as podcasts or videos, is a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in English is required.
