Store Keeper

Job Summary:

  • As a Store Keeper at Iron Products Industries your primary responsibility is to manage and control the flow of materials within the warehouse, ensuring efficient storage, accurate record-keeping, and timely order processing.
  • This role plays a critical part in supporting the overall operations of the steel fabrication company.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming materials, verifying quantities and quality.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using appropriate documentation and software systems.
  • Regularly conduct physical stock checks to reconcile system records.

Order Processing:

  • Process internal requisitions and external customer orders promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely fulfilment of material requests.
  • Prepare materials for dispatch, ensuring proper packaging and documentation.

Storage and Organization:

  • Organize and arrange materials in designated storage areas within the warehouse.
  • Implement efficient shelving and labelling systems for easy identification and retrieval.
  • Optimize warehouse space and maintain cleanliness and orderliness.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Generate and maintain detailed reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and consumption patterns.
  • Assist in preparing reports for management, highlighting trends, and suggesting improvements.
  • Support periodic audits and contribute to the resolution of any discrepancies.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding order status, discrepancies, and returns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and logistics.
  • Address inquiries and issues related to inventory from various stakeholders.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines within the warehouse.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to the supervisor.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in inventory management is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a storekeeper or in a similar role, preferably in the steel fabrication or manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
