Solar Project Engineer

Major Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and assessing solar construction documentation
  • Tracking and monitoring solar project documentation
  • Oversee project execution procedures for grid-connected and stand-alone renewable energy electrification projects in Nigeria
  • Meeting with other engineers, developers, and investors to present and review solar project plans and specifications
  • Focus on development, data analysis, design, simulations, technical standards, bill of quantities, logistics, installation, supervision, and operations of mini-grid (off-grid and under-grid), C&I, and SHS hybrid plants.
  • Test or evaluate photovoltaic (PV) cells or modules.
  • Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives.
  • Perform thermal, stress, or cost reduction analyses for solar systems.
  • Develop standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work.
  • Design or develop vacuum tube collector systems for solar applications.
  • Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.
  • Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency.
  • Develop design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial, or industrial solar energy systems or components.
  • Create plans for solar energy system development, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
  • Create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Power plant design, optimization, simulation, dimensioning using software (PVSyst, HOMER, Odyssey, Helioscope, etc.), electrical calculations, bill of quantities, schematics, and drawings (some degree of AutoCAD, ETAP, REVIT, or similar is expected).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Solar/Electrical Engineering or related field and projects.
  • Proficient in the Use of computer-aided design AUTOCAD
  • Exceptional Technical and data interpretation skills.
  • Good Knowledge of REA Projects and Mini-grid Solar systems
  • Report writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to pay attention to details
  • Results-oriented mindset.
  • Must be able to communicate well
  • Exceptional Problem-solving abilities
  • Project Management Skills.
