Project Manager in Higher Education and Vocational Training – F/H
Mission
- Under the authority of the AFD Country Director in Nigeria, you will be in charge of the identification, development and monitoring of a projects portfolio in the fields of higher education and vocational training (Active portfolio of 5 main projects for a total amount of € 280 million)
Activities
Participate in the coordination, development and monitoring of operational activities
- Prospect and identify projects in the dedicated sectors
- Participate in the appraisal, structuring and formalization of projects
- Ensure the follow-up of the portfolio implementation (procurement of services and works, financial management,…)
- Participate in the coordination of the project team (in connection with Technical Experts based at headquarters)
- Organize and accompany the supervision missions from the Country Office or AFD headquarters
- Conduct Post-evaluation analysis
Contribute to the strategy of AFD in Nigeria and to the Knowledge production:
- Develop knowledge initiatives
- Implement the AFD group’s sectoral strategy at country level
- Contribute to the definition of the Country strategy
- Ensure a sector watch and produce summary notes
- Prepare communication contents
Ensure external contacts within the framework of its activities:
- Develop and maintain contacts with the AFD’s local partners (local authorities, French Embassy, Development Partners, counterparts, NGOs, etc.)
- Represent AFD vis-à-vis national authorities, service providers and other technical and Donor/Development partners working groups, particularly in sector consultations
Who are we looking for?
Qualifications/experiences
- MBA or MSc with a 1st experience of minimum 5 years in project management, preferably with an international Donor/Development Partner
- An exposure to the sector of vocational training and/or higher education in Nigeria
- Knowledge of international procurement rules
Financial skills
- Interest in working in the field of ODA (Official Development Aid)
Ability and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability to work with various international partners in a very challenging and multicultural context
- Rigorous and autonomous with a strong appetite to work in a team (team builder)
- Ability to negotiate
- Synthetic and analytical with strong writing skills
Languages
- Both English and French skills are required (B1 level for French at least)
