Production Manager

Job Description

  • The Production Manager at our Cephalosporin Plant in Sagamu will oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • This role involves managing the production team, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
Production Planning and Management:

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet company goals and customer demands.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure optimal use of resources and adherence to timelines.
  • Adjust schedules and processes as necessary to accommodate changes in demand or production issues.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that all production activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain high product quality.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to prevent and address production defects.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the production team, including supervisors, operators, and technicians.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and training to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the production team.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified issues promptly.

Resource Management:

  • Manage inventory of raw materials, equipment, and finished products.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of necessary materials.
  • Optimize the use of equipment and resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and other best practices to streamline production.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and R&D teams to develop and implement new production processes.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, downtime, and quality issues.
  • Prepare regular reports on production performance for senior management.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and company standards.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as quality assurance, maintenance, logistics, and sales, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss production status, challenges, and strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and production processes for cephalosporins.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in production planning and resource management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and production management software.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in Sagamu and may require occasional travel to other company sites or for training purposes.
  • The role involves working in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to chemicals and equipment noise.
