Litigation Clerk
Job Description
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case precedents to support litigation strategies.
- Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring all necessary documents are filed appropriately.
- Coordinate with external parties, such as opposing counsel, clients, and court personnel.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of court rules, procedures, and filing requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
- Summarize deposition transcripts and other legal documents for attorney review.
- Monitor case calendars and deadlines, proactively notifying attorneys of upcoming events.
- Assist in the preparation of witness and exhibit lists for trial.
- Collaborate with legal support staff and provide guidance as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; paralegal certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation clerk or similar role.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and capable of producing high-quality, error-free work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
- Familiarity with local and federal court rules and procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of litigation processes and legal terminology.
