Purchase Officer (Market Specialist & Vendor Acquisition)

Job Description

As a Purchase Officer (Market Specialist & Vendor Acquisition), you will play a key role in sourcing and acquiring vendors by actively visiting the market, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services for our operations.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular visits to local markets to source products and identify potential vendors and suppliers.
  • Actively engage with vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions for the procurement of goods.
  • Evaluate vendors based on factors such as product quality, pricing, reliability, and delivery terms.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors to foster collaboration and ensure smooth procurement operations.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and terms of service with vendors to achieve favorable terms for the company.
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by vendors promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and availability of goods and services.
  • Monitor competitor activities and pricing strategies to identify potential opportunities or threats in the market.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the purchasing team based on market research findings.
  • Utilize proximity to the location to establish strong relationships with local vendors and suppliers.
  • Leverage knowledge of the local market to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement practices.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of OND/HND (Ordinary National Diploma/Higher National Diploma) in Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in purchasing or as a purchase officer, preferably in a supermarket or retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of vendor sourcing and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to conduct regular visits to local markets for vendor sourcing.

As a Data Entry & Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of procurement transactions, performing data entry tasks, and providing support to the procurement team to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Enter procurement-related data into the company’s procurement system with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of purchase orders, delivery receipts, invoices, and other procurement documentation.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of OND/HND (Ordinary National Diploma/Higher National Diploma)/BSC in Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • Degree in Accounting, business management or a similar field preferred is an added advantage.
  • 1year of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar position
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data entry software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
