Job Summary

The Laboratory Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and safety of mayonnaise and vegetable oil products through meticulous analysis and testing procedures. This position involves conducting various laboratory tests, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold the highest standards of product excellence and regulatory compliance.

The key result areas of this role are:

  • Perform accurate and timely analysis of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of laboratory activities and test results.
  • Timely conduct all laboratory analyses in the production process to maintain product integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Mayonnaise Analysis Record: Perform thorough analysis of mayonnaise samples to ensure compliance with quality standards before release for packaging and distribution.
  • Sensory Record: Conduct sensory evaluations of mayonnaise and vegetable oil products to assess taste, texture, and aroma, ensuring they meet consumer expectations.
  • Blending Record: Monitor and record blending processes to ensure accurate mixing of ingredients and consistency in product formulations.
  • Vitamin A Fortification Record: Verify and document the fortification of Vitamin A to meet nutritional requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Palm Olein/Soya Oil Record and COA: Analyze palm olein and soya oil samples, maintain Certificate of Analysis (COA) records, and ensure adherence to quality specifications.
  • Incoming Material Records (CCP-1 & CCP-2): Conduct analysis of incoming raw materials, focusing on critical control points (CCP-1 & CCP-2) in the production process to maintain product integrity.
  • Hygrometer Lab Record: Maintain hygrometer records to monitor humidity levels in the laboratory environment and ensure optimal conditions for testing.
  • In-House Laboratory Calibration Record: Conduct calibration of laboratory equipment, including pH meters, ovens, thermometers, and weighing scales, and maintain accurate calibration records.
  • Raw Material Analysis (Guar Gum & Xanthan Gum): Analyze raw materials such as guar gum and xanthan gum for quality assurance purposes, ensuring they meet specified standards.
  • Daily Quality Report: Prepare and submit daily quality reports summarizing laboratory activities, test results, and any deviations from quality standards.
  • Incubation Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor and document the incubation process for mayonnaise samples to ensure microbial safety and product stability.
  • Assist Lab in Absence of Activity: Provide support to other laboratory activities in the absence of ongoing work in assigned sections, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other responsibilities assigned from time to time.

The Person

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control within the food industry, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and recording data.
  • Proficiency in various quality testing methods, instruments, and laboratory equipment and maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate findings clearly.
  • Understanding of quality control principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data management and reporting
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with quality management software and MS Office applications.
