We are looking for a Fiber Splicing Technician to handle the tasks of troubleshooting, installing, repairing and maintaining fiber optic cables and systems, as well as providing technical assistance in the designing and testing of fiber optics. The ideal candidate will be able to ensure that all cabling is connected properly to prevent any data loss or failed connections and to perform routine inspections to ensure construction and other operations do not disrupt or damage our fiber optic system.

Responsibilities

1. Perform cable installation, construction, maintenance and repair works as well as issues resolution.
2. Possess knowledge in all types of splicing activity, cable and safety test equipment and use of all types of cable construction equipment, as well as the rectification of fiber optic problem areas.
3. Locate and repair cables faults to maintain existing cable network without causing signal failure interruptions.
4. Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the cable network.
5. Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs and routers.
6. Review site surveys, condition discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for cable installation feasibility.
7. Understand construction prints and splice schematics.
8. Develop sensor indicators and conduct timely inspections, so that a faulty fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance.
9. Maintain project tracing information such as production sheets, time sheets, and customer required paperwork.
10. Formulate and maintain system records and system designs.
11. Maintain safe and secure work environment by complying with Government standards and legal regulations.

13. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds loads at a time.
14. Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials.
15. Must be able to ride in a vehicle up to four hours to travel to and from job sites.
16. Must be able to work in different temperatures and changing weather conditions.
17. Must have flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the business.

Education and Experience:

1. Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar role.
3. Vocational school training or apprenticeship is an added advantage.
4. On-the-job training offered.
