Job Summary:
- The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs specific to the construction industry.
- This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting a safe work environment, and minimizing environmental impact on construction sites.
- The HSE Manager collaborates with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and implement effective HSE practices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures tailored to the building services and construction industry.
- Ensure that HSE policies and procedures are communicated effectively to all project stakeholders.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of project sites to identify hazards and assess potential risks to workers, visitors, and the environment.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs specific to the construction industry, including topics such as working at heights, scaffolding safety, hazardous materials handling, and equipment safety.
- Provide ongoing education and training on safety procedures and regulatory compliance requirements to construction personnel.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and submit incident reports to as required by law.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards applicable to the building services and construction industry.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry-specific standards and guidelines.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of our client’s project sites, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Document findings and recommendations for corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely implementation.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures specific to construction sites, including procedures for evacuation, medical emergencies, and hazardous material spills.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response procedures and ensure readiness.
- Develop and implement environmental management programs for building services and construction projects to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Implement measures to reduce waste, promote recycling, and conserve resources on project sites.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in HSE management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, NEBOSH) is preferred.
- Proven experience in HSE management roles within the construction industry, with 10 years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Thorough knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards relevant to the construction industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with project teams and contractors.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in incident investigation and reporting in a construction environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a multi-cultural environment
