HSE Supervisor
Job Specifications :
- Minimum of a diploma in HSE studies such as NEBOSH National Diploma
- 5 years experience in HSE supervision. Construction, mining, gas and oil industries preferred.
- ISO 45001:2015 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Compliance and Implementation.
- ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems Compliance and Implementation.
- Added advantage – trained ISO 9001:2015 awareness/internal auditor
- Understand the application of the Health and Safety Act 2007, OSH 2012 and other legislation relevant to the Company’s business.
Job Summary :
- Responsibility and compliance of the Company’s HSE; making sure staff are aware of the importance and follow safety protocol.
- Advise on all aspects of Health & Safety.
- Implement practical and effective methods, both preventive and remedial, to promote health and safety and safe working practices at the workplace.
- Conduct/organise relevant health and safety training for staff as required including first aid and fire safety.
- Conduct & carry out internal and compliance audits of all sites; report on findings and manage issue log through to completion.
- Carry out all risk assessments and special assessments for each site as required including display screen equipment, manual handling, lone working, forklift loading, pregnant workers, inexperienced workers etc and ensure review at relevant intervals while maintaining records of the same.
- Coordinate and manage first aid and fire safety representatives for all sites.
- Recommend & implement control measures and advise on the standard of P.P.E. issued to employees.
- To carry out investigations into all accidents, near-miss incidents and record the findings on the relevant forms.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports and documents as required.
- Identify areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or HSE guidance. Arrange such training/certification once identified.
- Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and implement such changes where relevant.
- Attend such courses/seminars run by external sources to enable accurate interpretation of legislation to enable implementation within the organisation.
- Liaise with the Head of HSE to establish contractor health & safety procedures. Immediately contact the Leadership Team if situations are found, that in the opinion of the Head of Health, Safety and Environment require immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation.
- Participate in house meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations of daily work-plan
- Review the incident action plan for safety implications.
- To investigate incidents that have occurred within the incident areas.
- Conducts toolbox meetings.
- Verifies that injuries logs and reports are completed and submitted to the related government agencies.
- Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
- Enforces safety guidelines.
- Conducts investigations of all accidents and near misses.
- Reports to the concerned authorities as requested or mandated by the regulations.
- Conducts Job Hazard/ Safety Analysis.
