• The IKI project „ H2-diplo – Decarbonization Diplomacy “ supports partner countries on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office and in close cooperation with the German embassies on green hydrogen and decarbonization.
• The aim is to show these countries how they can decarbonize and diversify their economies with the help of green hydrogen and its derived products.
• In Nigeria, an H2-diplo office was set up as part of the German-Nigerian energy partnership, which implements dialogue measures and partner advice.

Your tasks

• As the person responsible for implementing the country component “Nigeria” of the global project, you act as the contact person for all involved actors and advise on the technical and conceptual design of hydrogen diplomacy between Germany and Nigeria.
• They continue the work of the H2-diplo office in Abuja and carry out consulting services and activities.
• You also actively participate in the energy cluster and contribute to the coherence and development of the portfolio.

Your main tasks include:

• Implementation responsibility and project management including operational planning and cash management, in close coordination with the program management in Berlin
• Support and technical design of the foreign energy policy dialogue with Nigeria in close coordination with the German embassy as well as with the political partners and the actors of the German-Nigerian energy partnership
• Advising the AA and the German embassy on hydrogen and energy issues and regular reporting on energy policy developments in Nigeria
• Network maintenance and involvement of political partners, energy companies, think tanks, civil society and EU representations as well as participation in relevant national specialist bodies on hydrogen
• Expert advice and implementation of capacity building formats for Nigerian partner ministries and other actors (e.g. specialist workshops, study trips, specialist studies) in coordination and coordination with the cluster coordinator for energy
• Implementation of regional dialogue measures on green hydrogen and decarbonization
• Implementation of high-profile events and communication measures
• Active integration of activities and contributions into the country portfolio and energy clusters of GIZ Nigeria as well as in the knowledge management of the global project H2-diplo

your profile

• Completed studies in political, economic, engineering, geosciences or comparable academic qualifications
• Several years of work experience in the field of energy transition and climate protection as well as proven expertise in energy policy and hydrogen
• Experience abroad in advising partner ministries and implementing activities
• Experience in advising German diplomatic missions with correspondingly high diplomatic skills and a political sense for the involvement of various representatives from politics and business 
• Proven experience in setting up and maintaining cooperation networks and partnerships as well as very good negotiating skills
• Very good communication skills as well as proven representation skills
