Finance Officer

Reporting:

  • Internal: Reports directly to the Executive Director, and supervises Finance Intern.
  • External: Reports to donors, partners

Major Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of organizational forecasts.
  • Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Assist in developing monthly and yearly financial reports for submission to the Executive Director.
  • Support the auditing of the organisation’s account by an appointed external auditor on an annual basis.
  • Assist in quarterly organizational internal audits for state finance and administration operations.
  • Develop, review, and process the organization’s payroll.
  • Support the development of the organization and the donor’s budget.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to finance officers and assistants.
  • Support/develop accounting financial management tools in line with organization priorities annually.
  • Assist in preparing the organization’s budget.
  • Collect and collate all fund requests from the state team.
  • Responsible for all bank deposits and withdrawals, including transfers.
  • Maintain and issue receipts and cheques.
  • Make payments to vendors and meet participants.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of financial files and records.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
  • Ensure the prompt remittance of statutory deductions.
  • Update the project fixed assets register regularly.
  • Prepare payment requests and vouchers.
  • Prepare statutory financial reports as fall dues.
  • Supervise the proper keeping of petty cash boxes and records.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • The duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within a reasonable level of skills and experience.
  • Understanding of NGO principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting software systems.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication in both English and Hausa languages.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in any finance program, and strong quantitative and qualitative research skills are advantages.

Experience:

●     Approximately 3 years of professional experience in procurement

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of a University Degree/HND in Accounting, Banking and Finance, or any related field of discipline.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of generic procurement procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated success as a procurement leader within the supply chain including planning, procurement, and logistics.
  • Good collaborator and influencer with effective interpersonal and analytical skills who can work seamlessly across cultures, organizational units and suppliers.
  • Knowledge and experience in procurement plans, strategies, market analysis techniques, procurement and contracting.
  • Good analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent skills in conducting market analysis and sourcing strategies.
  • Able to work effectively in a highly matrixed structure.
  • Good mathematical skills.
