Job Title: Finance and Grant Assistant
Locations: Yola – Adamawa & Borno
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
- The Finance and Grants Assistant will support the Finance and Grants Officer in implementing day-to-day financial and grants management functions.
- This role ensures adherence to donor guidelines and organizational financial policies while maintaining transparency and accountability in all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance:
- Assist with processing payments, bank transactions, and financial documentation.
- Maintain proper filing of financial records and ensure completeness.
- Enter financial data into accounting systems as required.
- Ensure that expenditures are properly recorded, coded, and documented.
- Assist in preparing supporting documents for audits and financial reviews.
- Support in cash disbursements and petty cash reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and documentation.
Grants:
- Support the tracking and documentation of grant-related transactions.
- Support in preparation of donor financial reports in collaboration with the Finance and Grants Officer.
- Ensure grant documentation is up-to-date and easily retrievable.
- Maintain a grants tracker to monitor budget vs. actuals for active grants.
- Assist in reviewing partner and program staff expenditure requests for compliance with donor requirements.
Compliance and Support:
- Ensure compliance with Nuru Nigeria’s internal controls and financial procedures.
- Participate in field visits to verify financial and programmatic compliance.
- Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong computer skills, especially MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and accountability.
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ relevant experience in finance and/or grants, preferably with an NGO.
- Familiarity with donor rules and regulations (e.g. USAID, EU, DFID) is an advantage.
Desired Attributes:
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of the local context in Biu or willingness to relocate.
