Deputy Academic Director
Job Description
- Supporting the Director of Learning to Envision and manage the Learning, Teaching and all academic support offerings to Schools, Parents and Students on Edves platform.
- Provision of strategic academic leadership and execution, founded on an established personal academic track record in learning and teaching with a reliable depth in African, British and American curricula and pedagogies to improve learning delivery support to all the stakeholders in the academic communities and markets where we operated.
- A significant portion of the job will relate directly to learning and teaching metrics associated with the best practices and frameworks that align with learning objectives to introduce improvements to enhance academic achievement, learning culture and the overall student experience in the supported market, institutions and families.
Responsibilities
Leadership:
- To review academic delivery of existing software, adhere to good practice and identify areas for development, and devise an inclusive strategy to drive improvement where necessary.
- To contribute to the development of new education technology initiatives for the schools, parents and students as required.
- Contributing to developing and implementing effective strategies and policies to deliver key institutional learning and teaching objectives specifically in relation to widening participation for low, medium and high-income communities across Africa and beyond.
- To be aware of statutory, governmental and professional body requirements to ensure the delivery of academic quality in line with relevant benchmarks in the markets that have Edves presence
- Be proactive and interested in keeping the company up-to-date over the latest educational needs, attending courses and conferences as appropriate
- Curriculum and Pedagogy
- Researching, enhancing and documenting various curricula and pedagogies adopted by target stakeholders through contributing to the development and implementation of educational technologies and innovative learning and teaching practices, specifically in relation to learning styles that would deliver optimum value to the students and parents
- To ensure the quality assurance and academic compliance activities across the management and learning infrastructure and contents including complying with regulated standards in the target markets
- To identify and bring to the attention of the Management, in a timely fashion, the need for additional research, development and resources to ensure continuous delivery of the company’s objectives to the stakeholders
- To develop Curriculum, Pedagogy and Contents to meet learning objectives leveraging data insights through learning diagnosis
Requirements
- M.Ed or equivalent
- 4+ years of work experience in Learning leadership
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English (IELTS Band 7 overall)
- Coordination and leadership skills
- Knowledge of popular learning tools
- Competence in the effective use of Information Communications Technologies (ICT)
- Experience working with African, British, and American Curricula and any other will be an advantage for Early Years, Basic, Primary and Secondary Level Education
- An ability to motivate, coach and develop academic, technical and administrative colleagues
- Deep understanding of the Teaching Excellence Framework, widening participation and an ability to gain positive outcomes for student achievement, retention, and progression.
- A willingness to contribute to the review of processes
- The ability to adapt to a changing environment or college priorities
