Senior Associate, People Business Partner (Maternity Leave Cover)

The Role: 

As a Senior Associate, People Business Partner at Flutterwave as part of the People & Culture team, you will play a pivotal role in aligning our people strategies with the overall business objectives. You will act as a trusted advisor to our business leaders, providing strategic and operational HR support. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.

Please note this is a temporary maternity leave cover. There is no guarantee this will result in a permanent role

What Your Day-to-Day Activities will Include, but are not limited to: 

Business Partnering:

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and act as a trusted advisor on all HR-related matters.
  • Understand the business goals and provide strategic HR insights and solutions.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure effective recruitment strategies and practices.
  • Participate in interviews and selection processes for key positions.

Performance Management:

  • Partner with managers to develop and implement performance management processes including goal-setting, performance evaluations, and development plans.
  • Provide guidance on performance feedback, coaching managers on providing constructive feedback and recognition, and development plans.

Employee Relations:

  • Handle managing employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct investigations and facilitate resolution of workplace conflicts.
  • Support the maintenance of a positive and inclusive work environment.

Learning and Development:

  • Identify training and development needs within the organization and assist in planning and coordinating relevant programs.
  • Support the design and implementation of learning initiatives.
  • Monitor and track employee development progress.

Change Management:

  • Assist in managing organizational change and transformation initiatives.
  • Support communication and implementation of changes.

People Policy and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local labour laws and company policies.
  • Stay updated on HR best practices and industry trends.

HR Support:

  • Assist in the implementation of HR policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR-related matters.

Data and Reporting:

  • Compile HR data and generate reports for analysis and decision-making.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate HR records and documentation.

Administration:

  • Contributes to the improvement of Operational Efficiency within the teams by providing organizational support.
  • Supports the implementation of HR processes throughout the employee life cycle in a seamless manner.
  • Ensure that HR processes are simplified and administered efficiently.
  • Providing user support for HRIS as required
  • Contribute to workflow or process change and redesign and exhibit broader understanding of HR process/policies/guidelines.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience in HR roles, with a focus on business partnering.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience supporting Tech teams is mandatory for one of the roles
  • Knowledge of financial services and payment solution industry is critical 
  • Handling sensitive issues and counselling staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills

The Role: 

Flutterwave is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head, Enterprise Risk Management to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise risk management framework within the organization. This role will involve working closely with senior leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across various business functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of an enterprise-wide risk management framework aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks across various business units and functions
  • Oversee technology risk management initiatives, ensuring the identification and mitigation of risks associated with technology and information security
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, keeping abreast of changes and communicating implications to the leadership team.
  • Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s assets and interests.
  • Develop and maintain crisis management plans, ensuring the organization is prepared to respond effectively to unexpected events.
  • Communicate risk-related insights, findings, and recommendations to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster a risk-aware culture within the organization, providing training and guidance to employees on risk management best practices.
  • Collaborate with various functional units, including Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Technology, to integrate risk management seamlessly into business processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external audit teams to ensure effective risk assurance and compliance with audit recommendations.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA, FRM) preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years’ in progressive experience in risk management within financial technology companies, with a proven track record of successfully navigating complex risk landscapes.
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated  ability to mentor and develop team members
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating user-centric principles into risk management practices, resulting in enhanced user satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong capability to make data-driven decisions and anticipate risks through analytical insights.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively, demonstrating agility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability and keen appreciation for operational processes, collaborating seamlessly with operational teams to integrate risk strategies.
  • Deep understanding of backend and tech flows to inform the development and implementation of risk management strategies
  • Strong experience in maintaining a commercially oriented approach, with a focus on margin maximization goals rather than risk minimization, aligning risk strategies with organizational profitability objectives.
