Job Overview:

The Company Lawyer will oversee the legal aspects of our business, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and provide expert legal advice to management. This role requires a thorough understanding of corporate law and the ability to manage complex legal matters that impact the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice to senior management on various corporate, regulatory, and compliance issues.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company’s interests.
  • Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including corporate governance, employment law, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation involving the company, including representing the company in court when necessary.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Policy Development: Assist in developing and implementing company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for employees on legal topics relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of all legal documents and proceedings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from a recognized university; a Master’s degree or professional certifications (such as the Nigerian Law School Certificate) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate law, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Nigerian corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Integrity: High ethical standards and integrity in professional and personal conduct.
