Assistant Quality Assurance Manager
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Conduct thorough inspections and audits of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency enhancement in manufacturing, packaging, and distribution processes.
- Propose and lead initiatives to implement quality improvements throughout the production lifecycle.
· Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality tests, inspections, trainings and audits.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing QA findings, trends, and recommendations for management review.
· Quality Management Systems:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with FSSC 22000 and local regulatory standards.
- Monitor and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect the latest quality practices.
· Training and Development:
- Provide training to production and quality control teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging regulations to enhance knowledge and expertise.
Customer Complaints and Investigations:
- Lead investigations into customer complaints related to product quality and safety, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, production, engineering, and sales/marketing teams to ensure that quality considerations are integrated into product design and development stages.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree preferred (preferably Food Science, microbiology, or related science field).
- 5yrs+ experience in Food Processing and Quality Management.
- Required – former supervisory experience or demonstrated potential to develop salaried supervisory employees.
- Detail oriented with analytical aptitude; exposure to Statistical Process Control is beneficial.
- Must have the ability to make sound judgment and good decisions regarding quality and wholesomeness of product.
- Strong leadership, managerial skills and the ability to coach and develop employees.
- Strong writing and presentation skills.
- Able to prioritize/adjust quickly to changing work environment with minimal supervision to meet changing plant needs.
- Previous experience with HACCP, FSSC 22000, food safety regulations is preferred.
- Proficient use of PC including Excel, Word, Access, and Power Point.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Ability for limited travel for business related visits.
