Assistant Manager Procurement
Purpose of Job
- The Assistant Manager Procurement is responsible for assisting the Manufacturing SBU, Technical Procurement Manager to oversee sourcing capabilities and the supply chain of all technical and non-technical items.
- The role is also responsible for finding and evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts and acquiring the most cost-efficient deals without compromising on quality.

Administratively reports to: Manufacturing SBU, Technical Procurement Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
- Coordinate and Plan Overseas spares and technical purchase
- Drive the inventory optimization policy for the operations, ensure adequate stockholding and replenishment strategies are in place
- Balance both tactical executions with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction on factory procurement and projects
- Provide a proactive supplier expediting surveillance support service to Projects by ensuring material and documentation deliverables proceed in accordance with contractual requirements, and fully in compliance with Project procedures
- Work with the project team on procurement and execution of engineering packages of projects long lead items and bulk materials including materials required for early tie-in activities
- Develop procurement plan/strategy for the entire project that defines the detailed procurement processes
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Manage the entire technical procurement activities with the usage of end-to-end procurement tools ranging from RFQ issuance, collation of commercial and technical evaluations, recommendations, purchase order issuance, expediting of materials and service contracts and final close out of process
- Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures
- Reviewing, comparing, analyzing products and services to be purchased
- Work collaboratively and negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies and initiatives and advise of impact of change on purchasing and production activities
- Recommend suppliers; administer contracts throughout the project
- Assess supplier performance: quality, cost, delivery, service
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
- Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues
- Conduct industry research to identify potential suppliers
- Organize both sealed and emailed bid openings in line with company procedures for both technical and commercial bids received. Perform critical evaluation/analysis of bids received, by applying the evaluation model and criteria in which bids received are evaluated

- Spend Under Management – Tracking and optimization of expenditures by negotiating a volume discount
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree or HND in Industrial/ Production Engineering, Operations Management, Procurement & Supply
- 5+ years’ of experience in procurement with FMCG or high pace manufacturing environment
- MBA/MSc in Logistics & Supply Chain would be an advantage
- Procurement and expediting demonstrated results in materials planning and optimal availability
- Membership of professional bodies – CIPS, CISCM or any other relevant professional designations
- Analytical and Proactive

- Conversant with Microsoft Office Tools
