Account Officer (Port Harcourt)
Job Description:
- Dreamworks Integrated System Limited, a leading provider of ICT and lifestyle products in Nigeria, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Account Officer to join our team.
- As an Account Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Tasks:
- On-line real-time bank reconciliation for all company bank accounts: Reconcile all bank statement balances with BUSY cash book balances and agree on them daily. Prepare a bank reconciliation statement for all banks at least 3 days after the month end.
- Daily POS reconciliation and reports submitted by close of the next working day: Confirm all POS deposits in the bank daily from all outlets.
- Posting bank charges on both local and foreign transactions: Post all bank charges into BUSY.
- Ensure all bank charges on both local and foreign transactions are in line with approved charges by CBN: Recompute and compare actual charges against CBN approved rates for possible differences and send monthly reports.
- Monthly sales representatives’ achievements: Extract and compile sales reps monthly sales separating cash from credit.
- Treasury Management: Reconciliation of all retail outlets, regional offices, and head office cash collections.
- Schedule of Payments: Make a list of all outflows from the business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and expense tracking.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Prepare and process invoices, receipts, and payments in a timely manner.
- Monitor overdue accounts and follow up with customers for timely payments.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Conduct periodic audits of financial transactions to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Prepare and submit tax returns, VAT filings, and other statutory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial support and analysis as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and adhere to internal controls and procedures.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as an Account Officer or similar role, preferably in a retail or e-commerce environment.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and taxation.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Integrity and ethical conduct in handling financial information.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN) will be an advantage.
