Maintenance Officer
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of hospital facilities, equipment, and systems.
- Inspect and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems, including but not limited to lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and medical gas systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular inspections of hospital premises to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and compliance issues.
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance projects, including renovations, installations, and equipment upgrades, ensuring adherence to budget and timeline.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and work orders, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other tracking tools.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA, and Joint Commission regulations.
- Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and suppliers for specialized maintenance services, equipment purchases, and repairs.
- Assist with facility planning and space management initiatives, providing input on infrastructure needs and long-term maintenance strategies.
Requirements
- OND / HND or equivalent; additional certification or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems is preferred.
- Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in maintenance practices and procedures.
