Job Description
- We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager, Procurement to manage the company’s supply of products and services.
- Assistant Manager responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure goods purchased are in accordance with specified requirements and match given specifications.
- Advise on methods to improve receiving, storing, inventory and distributing materials and supplies; and maintain stock control records.
- Verify quantities of goods delivered, inspect for damage; and sign delivery tags
- Liaise with warehousing and inventory unit to record and monitor for restocking
- Prepare and maintain records concerning the receipt and issuance of materials
- Negotiate for favourable terms for purchase, e.g. discounts and credit, and follow up with the Finance Department to ensure that payments are made to the suppliers according to terms
- Ensure goods purchased are delivered to the appropriate location and/or persons in a timely manner, providing continuous feedback to the head of Procurement
- Receive delivery of materials into the store
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify procurement needs, establish specifications, and evaluate potential suppliers.
- Assist in conducting market research and supplier evaluations to identify reliable and competitive vendors.
- Participate in negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms of the agreement to ensure favourable conditions for the organization.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and manage supplier relationships to maximize value and minimize risks.
- Analyze procurement data and generate reports to track performance, identify trends, and propose improvements.
- Stay updated with industry trends and procurement and supply chain management best practices.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or similar.
- Successful work experience as a Procurement Person, or another relevant role and with at least 10 years work experience
- Strong working knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as an aptitude for reading the market.
