Finance Advisor (Volunteer)

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Finance Advisor (Volunteer). The Finance Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting our financial management and reporting processes to ensure transparency, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This volunteer position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in finance or accounting to contribute their skills and make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Monitor budget allocations and expenditures to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of financial accounts and transactions.
  • Prepare financial reports, statements, and analyses as required.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Support the development of annual budgets in collaboration with the Finance Team and Program Managers.
  • Assist in forecasting financial needs and resources for upcoming projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits and implementing recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the preparation of financial documentation for audits and grant reporting.

Grant Management:

  • Assist in tracking and reporting on grant funds, including budget utilization and expenditure tracking.
  • Prepare financial reports and documentation for grant applications and reporting requirements.

Financial Systems and Processes:

  • Contribute to the improvement of financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on financial procedures and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Previous 1-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
