Legal Assistant
Job Description:
As a Legal Assistant, you will work closely with our team of experienced lawyers to support various aspects of legal practice and client service. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Legal Research: Conducting in-depth legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedent to support ongoing cases and provide valuable insights to the legal team.
- Document Preparation: Assisting in drafting legal documents, including contracts, agreements, memos, and court pleadings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Case Management: Supporting the management of case files, including organizing documents, maintaining electronic and physical filing systems, and tracking deadlines and court appearances.
- Client Interaction: Interacting with clients to gather information, provide updates on case progress, and assist in addressing inquiries under the guidance of senior lawyers.
- Administrative Support: Providing administrative support to the legal team, such as scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, and managing correspondence.
- Court Attendance: Attending court proceedings, hearings, and meetings with clients or other legal professionals, when required, to observe proceedings and assist as necessary.
- Compliance and Due Diligence: Assisting in compliance reviews, due diligence exercises, and regulatory filings to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met.
- Collaboration: Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the firm to contribute to a positive work environment and achieve common goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognised institution.
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
- Prior internship or work experience in a legal setting is desirable but not mandatory.
