Key Responsibilities
- Aligning general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting.
- Entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and interdepartmental entries into the ledger on a monthly basis, as well as preparing reports.
- Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
- Ensuring accuracy and all financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
- Reconciling accounts with the general ledger.
- Performing audits on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness.
- Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
- Support Monthly and Annual Close Processes
- Prepare Journal Entries
- Assist various departments in accounting issues and queries
- Analyze and perform foreign currency exchanges
- Support Auditor in conducting internal and external audits
- Assist in tax preparation and filing activities
- Gathering supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.
- Any other job activity assigned by the Finance Manager.
Requirements, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Applicants must possess the following skills and abilities, which are important for achieving success on the job:
- Qualifications required are a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting-related discipline, or B.Eng. in Financial Accounting, or its equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in General Ledger and Financial Accounting
- Must possess effective communication, and writing skills to share accounting information when needed.
- Understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Previous knowledge of audit is an added advantage
- Strong analytical and effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies
- Technical accounting skills and experience using accounting software
- Be an effective team player with ability to work under own initiative
- Strong computer skills especially MS Office Suites
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
- Ability to multi-task: He/she must be able to complete several tasks together and meet up with deadlines
- Budgeting, bookkeeping and mathematical skills with minimal errors
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
